Birchbox March 2014 Subscription Box

Birchbox is one of the very first subscription boxes around (founded in 2010)… Let’s see what is inside my very first box from them:

I love the simplicity of the box, but I don’t know how much I’ll like what’s inside of them. I have heard many different things from other subscriber’s reviews. Some people love them, some dislike their items, and some people have thought about canceling, but find that they like their next box so they decide to keep their subscription. Let’s check it out!

Spring Forward message with a list of the items, descriptions, and their full size prices on the back of the card (which I will include below each item’s photo so you can see what you like!).

Mighty Leaf Tea Pouches: hand picked blend of organic tea leaves, dried fruits, and spices in a biodegradable pouch. Steep tea of choice in hot water using directions on the packaging.
Full-size Retail: $9.95
Review: I don’t like tea, so I haven’t actually tried this one. Sorry guys! I tried everything else in this box.

Agave Healing Oil Treatment: Created by a veteran hairstylist, this lightweight oil uses agave to hydrate and protect. Work a small amount into damp hair from roots to ends.
Full-size Retail: $24.00 – $40.00

Review: Let me just say that this is the first hair treatment I have ever tried at home. I was extremely pleasantly surprised at how much softer this made my hair and it actually has a pleasant smell.

Gilchrist & Soames London Collection Body Lotion: This fast-absorbing hydrate leaves skin silky-smooth with a light, earthy scent. Massage generously into skin, focusing on trouble zones like flaky elbows and knees.
Full-size Retail: $16.00

Review: I don’t know if it’s just me, but I’m not really a fan of this lotion. It goes on smooth and at first it really feels good on the skin, but honestly my skin felt dry again after a few minutes. Maybe I need to apply more “generously” as it says. The good news is that it does smell good!

A Treat From Ghirardelli: Take a timeout to embrace Ghirardelli’s Cherry Tango Square. After you try the unique blend of deep dark chocolate, tangy cherry, and satisfying almond crunch, we dare you not to do a little happy dance.

Review: I am definitely not a fan of the flavor, but I do know that I love the Peppermint Bark and the Caramel with Chocolate.

theBalm How ‘Bout Them Apples? Cheek & Lip Cream: from the just-launched palette, a dual-purpose, creamy stain with just a hint of shimmer. Apply to the, er, apples of cheeks and blend. Dab onto like for a pretty flush.
Full-size Retail: $32.00

Review: I adore this product, if only for the packaging alone! It magnetically closes and I just think it is so cute! I really want to get this in full-size. I might want to try another shade of color though. PIE appears with a bit of an orange tint and I am just not into having orange lips for myself.

Supergoop! City Sunscreen Serum: This anti aging serum, which creates a weightless UV shield, can be worn year-round. Apply a thin layer in the morning. Wear alone or as a primer under makeup.
Full-size Retail: $20.00 – $42.00

Review: This feels so nice on my skin and goes on really well. I don’t wear makeup every day, so I like knowing my face can be protected from the sun weather I decide to go au natural or wear makeup that day.

Ok so overall this box has some good and some bad to it. I like a few of the products and I look forward to seeing what next month’s box brings, but this one was hit or miss. Well, that’s it for today.
Stay beautiful on the inside & out, my lovelies!
